Strategic thinking is widely taught, but few leaders can think strategically when their nervous systems are activated. This is the Anticipatory Leader in action.
An Anticipatory Leader is able to anticipate, shape and lead through change. Because Anticipatory Leaders use neuro-sensemaking to think beyond the present, they understand cognitive bias, threat responses and pattern distortion. Their widened perception, detection of weak signals and objective interpretation of change ensures less reactive decision-making, more forward-looking choices and reduced blind spots.
An Anticipatory Leader is able to make sense of complexity, identifying opportunities and risks emerging from change.
