Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 July 2026. Protecting your privacy is very important to us. This notice explains the purposes for which SBI collects, stores and uses your information. We keep your information confidential and only share it where we are legally required to, where we must to fulfil our agreement with you, or where you have given consent.
This privacy notice forms part of our agreement with you. We may update it from time to time and will let you know when we do. Please read it alongside the Terms & Conditions that apply to the products or services you use.
1. Who you are sharing your information with
We are Stellenbosch Business Institute (SBI), part of the NetEd group of private education institutions. We are not affiliated with Stellenbosch University. Our head office is at Twickenham Building, The Campus, 57 Sloane Street, Bryanston, Sandton, 2191. You can contact us at info@sbinstitute.co.za or +27 (0) 11 575 6104.
2. What we collect, and how we collect it
Information you give us. When you complete a form on our website — such as an enquiry, discovery-call request or newsletter signup — we collect the personal information you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, company and role.
Information we collect automatically. When you browse our website we collect standard information about your internet connection and website use to help us improve our website and online services. This may include the URL you came from, your IP address, domain type, browser type, the country and dialling code where your device is located, the pages viewed during your visit, and any search terms you entered.
Children's information. We do not knowingly collect the personal information of children without the consent of a parent or guardian.
3. What we use your information for
To respond to your enquiries. If you contact us, we use the information you provide to respond and to arrange the programmes or services you request.
To send communications you've opted into. Where you have subscribed, we use your details to send you SBI updates, insights and event invitations. You can unsubscribe at any time.
To improve our website. We use information collected through cookies and similar technologies to optimise your experience and the overall quality of our website. To understand how visitors use our website and improve the user experience, we use third-party analytics providers, such as Google Analytics, which may place cookies on your device. You can turn off your browser's ability to accept cookies if you prefer. More information about cookies, including how to block or delete them, is available at aboutcookies.org.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Depending on the situation, we rely on your consent, the need to perform our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving our services, or a legal obligation. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us.
5. When we will share your information
We don't sell or share your information for profit. We will not sell or share your information with other institutions or companies for their own purposes. We only share information where necessary to deliver the services you requested, including with trusted service providers who help us operate the website and deliver our programmes, and within the NetEd group where relevant — always subject to appropriate safeguards.
Where the law requires it. Sometimes we may be required by law to share your information, for example under a valid warrant or court order. We will always check that such a request is legitimate.
6. How we protect your information
We take the security of your personal information seriously and have implemented reasonable safeguards, appropriate to its sensitivity, to protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction — for example, regularly monitoring our systems for vulnerabilities. No system is perfect and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but if a breach affects your personal information we will inform you unless we are legally obliged not to.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this notice, or as required by law.
8. Your rights and responsibilities
You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected. Specifically, you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask what information was sent to our suppliers, service providers or any other third party;
- ask us to update, correct or delete any out-of-date or incorrect personal information we hold about you;
- unsubscribe from any direct marketing communications we send you;
- object to the processing of your personal information; and
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
To request access to, or correction of, your information, contact us at info@sbinstitute.co.za. To protect your information, we may require proof of your identity.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always appear on this page with its effective date, and we will let you know when we make material changes.
